Resources for Customers with Overdue Bills

- Sign Up For a Payment Plan: You can avoid water shut offs and liens against your property by signing up for a payment plan and making regular payments. Plans with flexible repayment timelines. You may request a payment plan online at sfpuc.gov/RequestPaymentPlan or by calling 415-554-3403. We are here to help.
- Get a Discount on Your Bill: Customers with very low incomes may be eligible for SFPUC’s Customer Assistance Program (CAP), which provides 25%-40% off monthly water/sewer bills. Customers enrolled in CAP have a one-year grace period to get signed up for a payment plan before being subject to shutoff and property lien. Learn more and apply at: sfpuc.org/waterCAP
- Apply for a Temporary Exemption: Customers who don’t qualify for the CAP, but make less than 80% of area median income and have extenuating circumstances may qualify for a temporary exemption from shutoff or lien proceedings for up to six months.
- Apply for Short Term Assistance from Season of Sharing: Season of Sharing is a charitable fund that helps Bay Area households who are striving to overcome an unexpected challenge with housing or other emergency needs.
