About San Francisco's DrinkTap Program

Since 2010, we have installed outdoor tap stations around our city to provide everyone with free access to high quality tap water while on the go. At our tap stations, you can use your own container to get free water instead of buying bottles – so you’re saving money and reducing waste at the same time.

About Our Water

Our water is tested more than 100,000 times each year and is highly regulated by the EPA. Our primary water source is the well-protected Tuolumne Watershed, where spring snowmelt flows down the Tuolumne River to Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, and then to San Francisco.
