Work on the Project is occurring within the SFPUC’s Peninsula Watershed in two locations:
- North of State Route 92 along the existing Fifield-Cahill Ridge Trail;
- Construction of a new .5-mile-long universal access loop trail, a 50-car parking lot along with trailhead improvements.
2. South of State Route 92 & East of State Route 35 (also known as Skyline Boulevard);
- Construction of a new 6-mile-long trail segment to be served by a new 24-car parking lot and trailhead improvements.
- Construction of wildlife-friendly security fencing and other security features;
- Installation of a pedestrian bridge, pre-fabricated restrooms and interpretive signage
SCHEDULE OF WORK July 2 - September 30
- Southern Segment -- Fine tune the shoulders and place logs as retainer edging along the trail.
- Universal Access Trail/Parking Lot -- Grading crew places stabilized decomposed granite.
- Cahill Parking Lot -- Finish compacting the rock fill.
- Middle Segment -- Install internal boundary fence line.
- North Trail (State Route 35 Parking Lot) -- Construction Trailer has been removed. Once the parking lots are concreted, crews can fine grade the rock and prepare to pave at the end of July. Striping of the parking lot can then occur by early August.
- Construction Completion -- Kiosk will be installed late August; signage to be placed in September.
