The 2025 NBA All-Star Game is coming to San Francisco! The Chase Center, located in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood, will host this year’s festivities. From the Three-Point Contest to the Rising Stars game to the first-ever elimination-style All-Star tournament, All-Star Weekend is sure to deliver excitement and entertainment.

Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, with the combined sewer system flowing underneath.

Warriors History Lesson

In 1962, the Warriors franchise relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area after spending nearly twenty years in its founding city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Without an official arena, the Warriors played most of their home games at the Cow Palace in Daly City until 1964, when they moved to what is now known as the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.

To secure a more permanent facility, the Warriors officially moved to the Oracle Arena in Oakland in 1971 and changed their name from the San Francisco Warriors to the Golden State Warriors. After playing in Oakland for nearly 50 years, the Warriors moved back across the Bay to San Francisco, into their new home of the Chase Center.

All-Star Status

While the stars are doing their thing on the hardwood, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s (SFPUC) all-star lineup of utility services will be doing their magic around the Chase Center. Here are some fun facts about the All-Star Game, and how we assist Chase Center to reach all-star status in sustainability.

Chhase Center is energized with SuperGreen through CleanPowerSF.

🏀 This is the third time that the All-Star game will be played in the Bay Area and the first time that it will ever be played in San Francisco.
🏀 The previous two times the All-Star game was hosted in the Bay Area were in 1967 at the Cow Palace in Daly City and in 2000 at the Arena in Oakland.
🏀 Chase Center energizes its building with 100% renewable energy as a proud SuperGreen customer with CleanPowerSF.
🏀 Chase Center is a member of the City's Green Business Program.
🏀 Chase Center has one of San Francisco’s largest Rainwater Reuse Systems.
🏀 Chase Center treats stormwater on-site before discharging to the SFPUC’s separate sewer system (once fully operational this spring).
🏀 Over two-thirds of the rainwater that hits the roofs and plaza areas will be collected, stored, and treated. It will be used for non-potable toilet flushing and irrigation.
🏀 Chase Center is recognized by LEED for its environmental excellence, having received a Gold certification in 2020.

Being an All-Star takes a team effort. So, remember that when the All-Stars are taking the floor this weekend at Chase Center, the SFPUC will be providing the sustainability star power all around it.
