Upper Yosemite Creek Daylighting Project

Overview

The Upper Yosemite Creek Daylighting Project will feature innovative green infrastructure technologies to manage and reduce stormwater entering the combined sewer system. Green Infrastructure technologies will include rain gardens, an infiltrative creek, subsurface storage and a high-efficiency irrigation system that reuses stormwater.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) is focused on spreading Green Infrastructure through San Francisco, where green infrastructure takes advantage of the natural processes of soils and plants in order to slow down and absorb stormwater to keep it from overwhelming our sewer system. Some community benefits of green infrastructure include reduced wastewater treatment costs and energy consumption, enhancement of community spaces and street beautifications.
