San Andreas Dam Geotechnical Investigations
Overview
San Andreas Dam is a 105-foot-high earthen embankment dam that was built in 1870 and located in the San Mateo Creek Watershed. It impounds San Andreas Reservoir. Water from San Andreas Reservoir is a treated at the Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant before reaching almost one million customers in northern San Mateo County and San Francisco.
This project is investigating the seismic stability and hydraulic performance of the dam and reservoir facilities for a regular report to the California Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD).
