Local newspaper the Sun-Reporter is recognizing our very own, dr. chris bijoux, for his advocacy and community involvement, in a special edition that recognizes talented people in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Sun-Reporter is a newspaper dedicated to serving as the voice of African Americans in the Bay Area. Its founding publisher was Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett (the namesake of San Francisco City Hall's address), who was also a civil rights activist and physician. The publication's Talented 25 highlights a new generation of leaders who are working to improve the lives of African American residents of the Bay Area, while featuring pioneers and longtime community leaders.

Dr. christian h. bijoux is the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer for the SFPUC, where he leads strategic initiatives to cultivate vibrant, equitable, and thriving communities. With a deep commitment to empowering underserved and marginalized populations, chris oversees the development and implementation of innovative programs that prioritize sustainable growth, cross-sector collaboration, and community engagement.
Dr. bijoux has extensive experience in advancing impactful solutions through his leadership in program design, organizational capacity building, and community-based initiatives. Dr. bijoux is an accomplished academic and practitioner, whose contributions range from social policy development and enhancement and community systems improvement. Dr. bijoux holds a PhD in Social Policy from the Heller School of Social Policy at Brandeis University, and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Health Policy and Management at Drexel University School of Public Health. A recognized national scholar and leader on race and community development, he has received numerous awards, including being honored as one of Drexel University’s top “40 Under 40.” Despite the accolades, nothing means more to him than his family and friends, and the people who trust him to do the work with integrity, honesty, and passion.
