At the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), every month is Earth Month as we provide renewable, clean electricity for more than 75% of San Francisco thanks to our clean energy programs, CleanPowerSF and Hetch Hetchy Power.  However, April is a special time to make new sustainable lifestyle changes that show our love for the Earth and our City. While implementing changes can feel intimidating, we’re here to help.

Zero-Emission Trips  

Everyone can fight climate change by exploring the City through zero-emission trips. Not only is San Francisco proud to be one of the most walkable and bike-friendly cities in America – it is also one of the most transit-connected! Thanks to our hardworking SF Muni operators, traveling around the City is done cleaner as Muni contributes less than 1% of San Francisco’s greenhouse gases. Muni is also powered by 100% greenhouse gas-free energy, thanks to Hetch Hetchy Power. Taking a walk, riding a bike, and hopping on a Muni all take part in reducing tailpipe emissions and improving the air we breathe! 

EV Charge SF 

Here's a green fact: using electric vehicles (EV) help keep our air clean and our health protected. Do you have an EV or are planning to use one? This is your sign to install EV Charging in your property and save! From your multifamily garage or customer parking lot, accessibility to EV charging attracts residents, boosts business, and helps fight climate change. Our EV Charge SF program offers CleanPowerSF and Hetch Hetchy Power customers up to $120,000 in financial incentives to make installing electric vehicle charging equipment easier. This spring, the program is expanding to include existing buildings, not just new construction projects, in San Francisco. 

Electrify My Ride 

E-bikes offer a fun, budget-friendly, and eco-conscious way to explore San Francisco! Just in time for summer, our Electrify My Ride returns in a few months. This program provides a $1,000 instant rebate coupon for a new e-bike to all CleanPowerSF and Hetch Hetchy Power customers who are on an energy assistance program. Stay tuned for updates at sfpuc.gov/ElectrifyMyRide.  

SuperGreen 

Upgrading to CleanPowerSF’s SuperGreen service means you are 100% committed to renewable energy. By choosing our 100% renewable SuperGreen option, you are helping us fight climate change and protect your community. Through SuperGreen, CleanPowerSF customers are supporting new clean energy infrastructure, green jobs, and community investments. For the average single-family home, SuperGreen costs about $3 more per month to your plan. Upgrading takes in less than five minutes here at CleanPowerSF.org/SuperGreen! 

Bill Credits for Water Heater Upgrade 

Did you know switching to an electric heat pump water heater is safer, healthier, and more efficient for your home? Our new Water Heater Upgrade Program for CleanPowerSF customers is here to help. Not only will you be supporting a cleaner environment and improving your home’s air quality, but you’ll also enjoy savings on your energy bill. Eligible customers who install a heat pump water heater will receive a $50 credit on their monthly CleanPowerSF/PG&E bill for two years – essentially giving you two years of free water heating when you make the switch.
